Hyperlink to Resources

One of the best things to add to an educational PowerPoint is the use of anything else besides PowerPoint! :-)
In other words, linking to a website, other PowerPoint, Word Document (for editing), Inspiration map (for brainstorming), movie, etc.,etc. is a very easy and effective technique for enhancing a PowerPoint-based lesson.

Directions:
  1. Store the file(s) you want to link to from the PowerPoint in the same location as the PowerPoint file itself. If linking to a website access the site and highlight its address. Copy (Edit > Copy) the address.
  2. Create the slide in the PowerPoint including the word(s) to be linked to the resource.
  3. Highlight the word(s) to be linked and access Insert > Hyperlink
  4. Windows: Do either:
  • For a website paste (Edit > Paste) the web site's address you copied earlier into the "Address" box.
  • For a file click "Browse" and select the file for the link.

  • Mac:
  • For a website click the "Website" button and paste the website's address into the "Link To" box at the top.
  • For a file click the "Document" button and then the "Select" button to choose the file for the link.

Note: The link(s) will NOT WORK until you View the Show.

During the show use the mouse to click on the link. Use the file or website as needed. When finished, close (X), minimize the program window or use the "Alt-Tab" technique to return to the main PowerPoint show.
